Leave it to Khloe Kardashian and her business partner Emma Grede’s ultra-inclusive clothing brand, Good American, to counter the toxic one-size-fits-all trend offered by many fast fashion brands. Good American launched its Always suitable collection at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 – which was the perfect time for me, as it was the year my trouser size went from two to six seemingly overnight.
Each pair of Still fits jeans are designed to cover three to four sizes: 00-4, 6-12, 14-18, 20-26 and 28-32. If your weight fluctuates often or you are prone to bloating, the jeans will still fit you like a glove, the same goes if you lose weight too. Frankly, even my stretchiest leggings can’t stretch more than half a size, so the fact that a pair of denim bottoms could accommodate four full sizes in one bottom is quite remarkable. And, unlike other wannabe-denim stretch jeans (I’m looking at you, jeggings), these aren’t the yoga pant-denim spandex hybrids of the mid-2000s – they’re thick, high-quality denim made mostly of cotton. and spandex.
I usually wear a size 6 or size 27 in jeans so despite being on the lower end of my waist I opted for the Always fits straight jeans in size 6-12. I was worried that the fabric would be thin and too stretchy, but the fit was much more structured and chunky than I had imagined. Obviously, these jeans are stretchy enough (each style is made from four-way stretch and salvage denim to prevent losing shape) to accommodate modest to significant changes in size and shape, but they are nothing like the cheap spandex denim leggings of the past. decade and thank goodness.
Despite my long-standing love affair with Levi’s vintage rigid 100% cotton jeans, they aren’t always a practical or comfortable choice.
