Paterson Wins 2022 Healthy Town Designation by New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute Mayors Wellness Campaign

Paterson, New Jersey – Today, the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute announced the designation of Paterson 2022 Health Town by the Mayors Wellness Campaign. The City of Paterson has been recognized for improving the health and well-being of the community through innovative programs in areas such as exercise, healthy eating, and health education and awareness mental.

The Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC) is a program of the Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. In addition to the fourteen Healthy Town winners, seventeen other cities have been named 2022Healthy Town to Watch”, and seven have been designated “Healthy Town Up-and-Coming” in 2022.

Each year, communities participating in the MWC complete a comprehensive Healthy City Application outlining the research they conducted to identify their community health needs and explaining how they organized their local MWC committee. The app also highlights actions cities have taken to make their communities healthier places to live, work and play.

The town of Paterson has once again received the Healthy Town designation. The City’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of residents includes significant infrastructure investments, health awareness campaigns, the integration of comprehensive services for residents, and a partnership with the St. Joseph’s Medical Center.

“Maintaining the health of Patersonians is a priority and a source of pride,” said Mayor Andre Sayegh. “Our unprecedented investment in our parks, playgrounds and swimming pools demonstrates our commitment to the health and well-being of our residents. We are honored to once again earn the Gold level designation of being a Healthy City in New Jersey.
