Healthy eating and physical well-being at work, social and spiritual well-being in life.

The PMG Mining Wellness Day event was held on Friday, March 24, 2023, attended by our Deputy General Manager, Mr. Wei Yang Ming, Purchasing and Logistics Manager, Mr. Yang He, Occupational Medical Officer , Dr. Vivian Kgatle, and our esteemed employees. .

PMG Mining strives to encourage healthy eating and the physical well-being of its employees. The Wellness Day event is an encouragement for all our staff to eat healthy, exercise and enjoy the benefits of healthy living.

As quoted earlier by our Managing Director, Ms. Lin van der Westhuizen, “our health is the most important part of our life”.

Mr. Wei shared that well-being is an ongoing process that requires our continuous attention, and there should be five aspects that define our well-being, including physical, mental, social, intellectual and spiritual health.

In the words of Dr. Kgatle, “holistic health and wellness includes physical exercise and maintaining physical activity, following the wellness anthem which is the preschool song of ‘the head, the shoulders, knees and toes”.

We had fun.

We kicked things off with the exciting and invigorating aerobics session held by our very own Environmental Officer, Mr. Kgotlelelo Sihlangu. The aerobics lifted the spirits of everyone present and kept us going for the rest of the day.

We then moved to our basketball court to see our very experienced players in action. The support and team spirit was amazing and contagious. The game was close with the score only 4-3, with Mr. Yang He’s team winning the game and Mr. Menezes Chivimbi displaying his active talents.

The women’s netball game was not to be underestimated with the score at 4-2, with Mr. Wei’s team winning the trophy. Make no mistake, yes Mr. Wei and Mr. Vincent He quickly learned the skills of women’s netball to lead them in competitive play.

So what the majority of employees were waiting for: Battle of the departments on the football field. It was the workshop against the mine site and the Shengda United mine site against the processing plant. Shengda United played on Mining Site to win the trophy. The love for the sport was clearly visible with the tremendous turnout from players and spectators.

Last but not the least of the activities was the game of dominoes which represented the mental health of the employees. The competition was won by our own Workshop / Mine Site combo, Owen Orpen and Ephraim Gidinyane.

The Hoola Hoop competition was won by none other than another male entrant Fenias Sumbane from Process Plant.

The day was a huge success and was very well received by the PMG Mining family. Healthy and positive teamwork will always be the main theme of PMG Mining. PMG MINING, YOU ROCK!!!!!!!
