A groundbreaking ceremony was held for Trinity Health Livingston’s highly anticipated new hospital.
Local caregivers and Trinity Health Michigan executives gathered Thursday to celebrate the grand opening of the new hospital. It is expected to open in 2026 on the same site as Trinity Health Medical Center – Brighton.
Chairman of Trinity Health Livingston and Trinity Health Medical Center – Brighton John O’Malley said: ‘That day is long in coming. He said they had been working on building the new state-of-the-art hospital for some time and he was proud to continue their commitment to the community.
O’Malley’s remarks were echoed by Rob Casalou, President and CEO of Trinity Health Michigan, who was present at the event to demonstrate support for the statewide health care system and to strengthen its investment in the Livingston County community.
Casalou said Trinity Health Michigan’s investment in a new state-of-the-art hospital in Livingston County is one of the many ways they demonstrate their commitment to change with an evolving health care environment. He said they were excited to bring new technology and the latest advances in medicine to a new facility – adding that they believed a new hospital would position them to improve care for the community for many generations to come. come.
The construction of the new Trinity Health Livingston Hospital represents a $238.2(m)million investment in the community.
The new four-story, 174,000-square-foot hospital will include 56 acuity-adaptive beds, 18 existing short-stay unit beds, and eight licensed operating rooms. The existing medical center, adjacent to the new hospital site, is also being renovated.

During the ceremony, the group used the same shovel that dug the floor of the existing Howell Hospital in 1956.

I look forward to working with each of you to provide excellent care to our Livingston County community for many years to come.”
