Gadirova wins third straight floor exercise title at end of European Championships [Beuzz]

Reigning World Champion in Floor Exercises Jessica Gadirov of Great Britain won her third gold medal of the competition and her third consecutive European floor exercise title on day two of the apparatus finals of the European Championships in Antalya.

Gadirova, who won the all-around and team gold earlier in Antalya, placed first in the floor exercise ahead of her teammate and 2022 European all-around silver medalist Alice Kinsella.

Kinsella last won a European floor exercise medal – also silver – at the 2016 European Junior Championships.

The third floor exercise was Romania Sabrina Maneca-Voineawho placed fourth on vault in Saturday’s apparatus finals.

The Netherlands’ Sanne Wevers finished first on beam, as she did at the 2016 Olympics and 2018 Europeans.

Wevers, 31, beat the silver medalist Esposito of Manila of Italy and bronze medalist Zsofia Kovacs from Hungary. Earlier in Antalya, Esposito placed 12th in all-around and Kovacs placed second in all-around and fifth on uneven bars.

Ten years after winning his first European medal on vault, the Armenian Artur Davtyan won gold on this apparatus beating the all-around silver medalist Jake Jarman from Great Britain, who came second.

Davtyan, who placed fourth in all-around and third on pommel horse in Antalya, won silver on vault at the 2016 and 2022 Europeans, and bronze on vault at the 2013 Europeans.

Ukraine Igor Radivilov won bronze on vault, as he did at the 2012 Olympics, the 2019 and 2022 World Championships and the 2022 European Championships.

The 30-year-old Radivilov’s previous European medals on vault included gold in 2020 and 2021, silver in 2015, 2018 and 2022 and bronze in 2014. He finished second on vault at the 2014 and 2017 Worlds .

All-around bronze medalist Illia Kovtun of Ukraine won gold on parallel bars after finishing second in this apparatus last year. from Turkey Ferhat Aricanthe 2020 and 2021 parallel bars champion, won silver.

Thierno Diallo of Spain, who finished 10th all-around in Antalya, took bronze on parallel bars. The 22-year-old Diallo’s previous best placing on parallel bars at the Europeans was 19th in qualifying last year.

Croatia Tin Srbic, the 2017 world champion and Tokyo Olympic silver medalist on high bar, won his first European title on this apparatus.

With a margin of 0.033 points, Srbic, European silver medalist on high bar in 2019 and 2022, edged out the silver medalist Carlo Macchini from Italy. Kovtun won bronze.

Macchini, from Ancona who turns 27 on May 5, finished fourth on high bar at the 2019 and 2021 Europeans, as well as at the 2021 Worlds.
